Discretion and privacy for male escorts

Most applicants have a job, a family or a reputation they want kept separate from this work. Here is what the agency does to keep it that way, and what remains up to you.

What the agency does

You work under an alias. Your profile carries a first name you have chosen. Clients never learn your real name from the agency.

Your photos can be made unrecognisable. If you do not want your face shown, the photos on your profile are edited or cropped so that someone who knows you would not pick you out. Which photos are used is decided together with you.

Your details go no further. Your name, address, phone number and everything else on the application form stay with the agency. They are not passed to clients and not passed to third parties.

Clients deal with the agency. Enquiries, arrangements and the agency’s fee all run through TMC. A client does not need your phone number to book you, so she does not get it.

There is no paper trail between you and the agency. The client pays you in cash. No money moves between your bank account and the agency’s, and no invoices go back and forth. Nothing from an escort agency appears on your bank statement.

Face visible or not

This is the decision applicants think about longest, and it deserves the thought.

A profile without a recognisable face protects you from the obvious risk: a colleague, a relative or a neighbour coming across it. For many men with a public-facing job this is not a choice at all.

The cost is that a client has less to go on. She is choosing a man to spend an intimate evening with, and a face tells her a lot. The agency’s experience is that bookings depend heavily on photos, so it is worth discussing openly with TMC what can be shown and what cannot. There are positions in between, such as photos that show your build, your style and part of your face without giving you away.

Also think about what identifies you besides your face. A distinctive tattoo, a well-known room or a watch your colleagues would recognise can do the same job.

The application form asks whether you may be recognisable. Treat your answer as a starting point. Nothing goes online until you have seen and approved it.

Your application itself

The form on this site sends your details and photos to The Men’s Company by email. They are not stored on the website. If your application is unsuccessful, your data is deleted within four weeks of the process ending, unless you have agreed to it being kept for longer. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

The photos you send with the form are for assessment only. Sending them does not publish them anywhere.

What stays your responsibility

An agency can keep its own records closed. It cannot manage the rest of your life. A few things to settle beforehand:

Your partner. If you are in a relationship, your partner will either know or not know. Both carry consequences. Escorts who hide it from a partner live with a strain that tends to surface sooner or later. Decide before you apply.

Friends and family. You do not owe anyone an account of how you spend your evenings. But think through what you will say when asked where you were, because you will be asked.

Your employer. Check whether your employment contract says anything about other work, and consider how your employer would react. Some professions have conduct rules that reach into private life.

Your phone. Messages about bookings arrive on the mobile number you gave. If other people see your screen, deal with that: notification previews off, a lock you actually use.

Social media. Do not use photos on your profile that also appear on your personal accounts. A reverse image search takes seconds.

Cash. Being paid in cash is discreet, but the income is still taxable and needs recording. See law and tax for male escorts in the UK.

Discretion works both ways

Clients are at least as anxious about privacy as you are. Many have as much to lose as you do. They book through an agency partly because they trust it to keep their names out of circulation.

That trust extends to you. What you learn about a client, including the fact that she is a client at all, stays with you. You do not look her up afterwards, do not contact her outside the agency and do not mention her to anyone, however harmless the anecdote seems. If you meet her by chance in ordinary life, you follow her lead, and if she gives no sign of knowing you, then you have never met.

An escort who is careless with a client’s privacy is finished with a reputable agency, and rightly.

If you are recognised

It can happen despite every precaution: a client turns out to be someone from your own world, or someone works out who is behind a profile. The agency cannot promise this will never occur and nor can anyone else.

What reduces the odds is the combination described above: an alias, careful photos, no direct contact details in circulation and your own discipline. If something does happen, tell the agency so that it can help you decide what to do with your profile.
