Male escort jobs: what the work is really like
Searches for male escort jobs and gigolo jobs suggest a vacancy with a job description. There isn't one. This page describes the work as it is, one booking at a time.
It is not a job in the usual sense
Nobody employs you. There is no rota, no line manager and no wage at the end of the month. An escort with an agency is a self-employed man whose profile is shown to clients. When a client chooses him, the agency passes on the request and he decides whether to take it.
So when people talk about escort for women jobs or a male escort job in the UK, what they mean in practice is a place on an agency’s books and the bookings that follow from it. Some months there are several. Some months there are none.
What a booking includes
This is the point most guides step around, so it is stated plainly here. A booking through TMC almost always includes intimate contact. Bookings that are purely social, such as a dinner or a night at the theatre and nothing more, do happen, but they are very rare.
The image of the gigolo as a paid dinner companion is a myth. A client pays several hundred euros for a couple of hours. She is paying for a man’s full attention, in company and in private. If you would only want the first half, do not apply.
That does not mean anything goes. What happens is between two adults who both agree to it, the agency’s rule is safe sex only, and you can decline a request, a client or a whole booking at any time. More on that under safety and health in escort work.
Who the clients are
The clients are women and male-female couples. The women come from every walk of life and from many countries. There is no typical age and no typical reason. Some are single and busy, some are recently divorced, some are married, some are curious, and plenty have reasons they keep to themselves. It is not your place to ask.
What many of them share, particularly on a first booking, is nerves. Booking a man is a larger step for most women than men tend to assume. A good part of the work in the first half hour is making the situation feel normal: a drink, an unhurried conversation, no pressure of any kind.
Couples are a sizeable part of the agency’s clientele. Those bookings ask for extra tact, because there are two people’s wishes and two people’s limits in the room. It helps when those are clear before the evening begins. TMC represents heterosexual escorts, and couples book with that understanding.
The hours and the travel
Evenings and weekends are the obvious times, but there is no pattern you can rely on. A request can come for a weekday afternoon or for a date three weeks away. Some arrive at short notice, and an escort who is never available at short notice will miss a share of them.
Travel is part of the work. Clients book from across Europe, and some from America and Asia. A booking may mean a train to another city or a flight abroad for an overnight stay. The client pays the travel costs, and within city regions the agency uses fixed amounts. Even so, a two-hour booking can take up most of your day once the journey and the preparation are counted.
This is why nearly everyone starts with other work alongside, and why it helps if that other work is flexible.
Preparation
Clients notice everything. Before each booking that means a shower, a shave or a tidy beard, clean nails, fresh breath, clothes that suit the place you are going to, and arriving neither early nor late. It means having read whatever the agency passed on about the booking, and having eaten and slept enough to be good company.
It also means being sober. A glass of wine with a client is fine. Arriving with drink already in you is not.
The parts that are harder than they look
You do not choose your clients. You can refuse any booking, and that right is real. But an escort who only accepts women he would have approached anyway will work very little. The job is to give a good evening to the person who booked.
You have to deliver when you are not in the mood. Clients book days ahead. On the night you might be tired or distracted, and she has still paid for your full attention.
You carry a secret. Most escorts tell very few people. That affects friendships, and it affects dating. If you are in a relationship, think hard about what your partner knows and agrees to before you apply, not after.
The quiet spells are part of it. Weeks can pass without a request. Men who need the income to be regular find this harder than any booking.
What makes it worthwhile for those who stay
Plenty of escorts have been with TMC for years, some for as long as twelve, which says something. The pay for the hours worked is good, and the travel appeals to many. The agency also has a lot of regular clients, and a booking with someone you already know is easier and more pleasant for both sides.
None of that changes the basics above. If they have put you off, this page has done its job. If they have not, look next at how much male escorts earn and at the male escort requirements the agency sets.
